This is my first scenery so forgive me for minor errors. I'm also a dinosaur!
I flew into the old Lae airport regularly in 50s and 60s, It was an excellent functional airport in the middle of a beautiful tropical city at the head of the Huon gulf. The shipwreck off the end of RWY 32 is my rendition of "Tenyo Maru" a Japanese freighter sunk in 1943. The wreck eventually disappeared during an earthquake in the late 60s.
The airport was closed in the late 70s when the new airport was built on the site of the ww2 airfield complex of Nadzab AYNZ. Unfortunately the old airport site is now a dilapidated junk yard.
Lae airport was the final departure point for Amelia Earhart before she disappeared en route Howland Island
I have allocated NGLA for this scenery as the original ICAO code of AYLA has been reassigned.
I believe I have used only Asobo generic macros in constructing this scenery except for excellent library objects by colinj@ His library references are:

library2v10-cbj
cars drive along the runway, it's confusing 😁 otherwise good, but bad that there is no parking

Hi ardeeff. Yeah, I know about the issues but it is Papua New Guinea and not unusual to find people and vehicles wandering over airfields😁 as for parking I will add when I update sometime
Cheers

Looks nice! Could you add parking spots so we can spawn in cold and dark? Also, the runway spawn points are in the center rather than at the ends which would be more useful. Otherwise, well done.

I hope to fix this issue on version two when I get around to it. I am learning as I go and gradually getting better for an old guy!
Thanks for the input

Looks good, thanks for your effort. Flew out of Lae briefly before we all moved to Nadzab, so sad as we hated the drive. The F28 would depart at 6am and that was everyone's wakeup call as nobody could sleep through that. Well done on the ship, when I was there it had slipped, tried to dive it once but too murky.

Apinun Kanaka. Tankyu tumas! I flew into Nadzab a few times in DC3s when it was just Marston matting and gravel. Handy when Lae was closed due WX.
I had gone finish before Lae was closed

I'm an Amelia Earhart fan and am really excited to try this airport out. You can purchase the Lockheed Electra payware that she originally flew and now actually attempt to reach Howland Island from Lae using old school navigation techniques if you have the patience. (I think that total distance is 2556 statute miles, yikes.)

I haven't installed your airport yet, but I am already impressed! I had a ex-father in law who was stationed at Papua New Guinea, with the Army Air Corps, and he would tell me stories of how hot and miserable it was, working in the jungle! I never visited there, but thanks to MSFS, and your scenery, I can. Pete
