Enhanced Live Traffic

Enhanced Live Traffic is a standalone Flight Simulator add-on that injects accurate live traffic into your game!
Once you are spawned in the world, you can open the application, click connect and see all the live traffic.

Without this add-on, you might see a lack of live traffic, or the live traffic is delayed. This add-on solves this.
Please note that it might take up to 10 seconds after clicking "Connect" for the traffic to appear in-game.

Manually setting the Community folder

When you got the error that the Community folder could not be found, please manually set it in: Config/Settings.json
Please note, that the path should look like this: F:\\Games\\Flight Simulator\\Community\\
Make sure you use double backslashes (\\)

Model Matching
This application supports custom model matching.

Go to: Config/ModelMatching.json
Edit the file accordingly.

How to edit?

How does model matching work? Let's say the "Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner" is detected, the modelmatcher will now search for an aircraft with the key: "Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner", this will return "Boeing 787-10" ("Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner": "Boeing 787-10" as seen in the JSON file).
The modelmatcher will now append the livery name, let's say "KLM", this results in: "Boeing 787-10 KLM", if this livery is found, it will use this aircraft, if it isn't, it will fall back to: "Boeing 787-10 Default" (It appends "Default" to the value gotten from the key),
When getting "Boeing 787-10 Default", it will return "Boeing 787-10 Asobo" and use this aircraft.

Using AIG Liveries

If you have installed the Liveries from AIG via the “AIG Manager” in your Community folder, the liveries should work fine.
The Enhanced Live Traffic tool will look for the path: “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community\aig-aitraffic-oci-beta\SimObjects\Airplanes\”
If the folder is not found, because you installed it at another place for example or once AIG will rename the folder path, then you have to set it manually in: Config/Settings.json Therefore you have to set the “AdditionalFolderPath:” to the correct AIG path on your computer.
Make sure you use double backslashes (\\)

This add-on is still in ALPHA, there are still bugs!

If all aircraft have default liveries, check the logging files, so see if the application found any installed add-ons. Running as administrator might fix this issue if no addons are found.

Known bugs:

Airplanes on the ground will teleport.
When placing the application in a Admin Restricted folder (Program Files for example) the application might not work as expected. Please place it somewhere else or start the application as administrator.
IVAO liveries might not work. Please send me a DM with the IVAO liveries, so that I might be able to fix it.
Airplanes don't have nametags. This is not possible with the flight sim SDK. So I have to wait for Asobo to fix this..

Installed ELT today. My old schoolmate Grundy is now a pilot for the Royal Flying Doctors in Australia - and I just intercepted and followed his plane in real time. He called me "I just landed".... "Yeah" I said "I was right behind you....lol"

ELT is an unbelievably great no EPIC app that makes it REAL !!! Thank You peeps!!!

Hello again,

The landing gear of aircrafts generated by ELT remains extended while flying.

Is this normal ? Here's an example but this affects all airplanes:

No. Normally you see the gear only on ground or after take off when it will get up. Are you shure, that that was an airplane spawned by ELT. Could it be that it was another user without his plate? Or did you turn on also the AI traffic in MSFS?

Possible Bug

Hi, I've encountered this 'feature' twice when the same plane gets plotted 2x; this happens when a plane is stationary (grounded) for a quite a while (ie 4-5 mins) then starts to taxi, It looks asif it gets a new ID and does not remove the earlier one - interestingly the red and green navigation lights start flashing, asif ready for takeoff

Maybe you had a higher number of planes set? So if you on a busy airport and the number of the planes are higher than 120 this could happen. Or the data's from the FR24 are not correct. In every case if you disconnect and reconnect this effect should not be shown again...

No I only use a max of 60 and it happened at a very quiet airport trying (successfully) to model match a Baltic BCS3 using my own code.

I cap the number of planes to 60 using a different lat/lon multiplier(0.2 and 0.4) to give me most if not all grounded planes at any airport. This makes it easier to tweak my own AIG model matching. The multiplier you cannot tweak in the current version.

Can you add an option to use ADSBexchange.com API as well, and have the user enter/save the API key for accessing this data source. They have lots more traffic with and without flightplans. Be good to have a filter as well, like the API offers. I looked at your source and it seems possible, but I'm not a programmer so its over my head so I don't really know if it is.

At the moment that's what it is. Sorry, but the SDK function does not work as it should. Asobo and MS told us that they will fix it - but I don't know when. As we find a solution or a workaround we will fix that. We still investigate it and are working on small fixes too! Hello, thanks for the add on, awesome idea.

On the ND with TCAS on, every single airplane shows -99 under the little diamonds depicting airplanes. I know for a fact these airplanes are not on the ground... I can see them on FR24 at the right location and in the air. So the location is correct, but the -99 altitute separation is wrong.

Am I doing anything wrong ?

Also, the filters on the left of the app (GS traffic, gliders, airlines, ground traffic etc etc) don't seem to have any effect at all. Is this correct ?

The -99 based on the fact that there are Airports they are under the sea level. (e.g. Schiphol) That would be have the effect, that the planes there would not be grounded with level 0 - they would be higher spawned as the real ground level. Therefore the planes will be spawned 100 feet under the sea level. The SDK is correcting it automaticly to the ground level of the actual airport. There are sometimes problems with smaller business jets. It can happen, that they will be not grounded correctly. We still looking for the reason and we hope, that we can fix that in the next updates.

The filters on the side have an effect. They will be marked in the list as exclude and will not longer spawndes in the SIM. But they will be still listed in the list, because the list shows the actaul planes they are send from FR24. So it is possible to turn on (the spawning) or turn off of the special selection.

Installation is not simple, or there wouldn't be a massive log of comment's below on how to install.

Installation really is easy, though. Just unzip into its own directory and run.

Editing the model matching file is more involved but not difficult if you look at the syntax used, but that’s not required. ELT looks at your folders to see what other aircraft it has available to use.

Love the addon. Makes the skies feel more alive. I had a quick question, in the model matching file is it possible to assign a random livery to a plane? Say if I have bunch of repaints for a C152 and I want the traffic injector to just pick a random color for all 152s?

Sorry, no it's not possible to use random liveries. You can try to make a difference when you try to set a special livery to the exactly defined Aircraft type. E.t.: If you set "C172": "Cessna 172P Skyhawk G1000" then all C172 Types will get the same livery.

If you use the exact desription like

"Cessna 172M Skyhawk": "Cessna 172P Skyhawk G1000 Livery1",

"Cessna 172L Skyhawk": "Cessna 172P Skyhawk G1000 Livery2",

"Cessna 172P Skyhawk": "Cessna 172P Skyhawk G1000 Livery3",

Some quick questions:

I'm using aig manager with this addon, and the address in the setting.json is correct. And also many correct aig liveries showed up. But there are still some default liveries parking in the airport. How can I fix this?
Is this addon a live traffic injector (just like aig traffic controller)? Since if I set the ground aircraft density to zero (which is a must-do procedure for live traffic injector like aig traffic controller), there is no aircraft in the airport.

1st) It can be, that the Airport has parked traffic in the mod (if it's a third party mod) or you turned on the ground Planes in the sim. Zhen it will use some default liveries. ELT has no influence to that.

2nd) Yes it is. When you don't see ground traffic - could it be that you in a very busy area? If it is so it can happen, that the most traffic will spawned in the west of your area. Try to increase the number of planse to see the ground traffic also. The traffic will be spawned from west to east. So when the number of planes that you have set in the settings is reached it stop spawning further planes. So increase the number and the spawning will reach the east area also. In the next version I fixed that problem with a smaller area.

Increase the Number of the Airplane in the setting file from 60 to 120! Thats the setting for the ELT not MSFS!!

I did try almost everything. Sis read all comments still cant make it work. [ERR] Connection to KH failed: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

I dont have any special planes. No special addons. Can someone help?

This must be so frustrating . I suggest checking the logs saved in thye log subfolder.

Once you have located the logs' folder some of the reports migh give you a clue:

Silly question but is MSFS running when you start ELT? I haven’t seen that error message but always wait to start ELT until after I spawn into my plane. May or may not be the issue though.

Many gliders in Holland start-up with the aircraft-type n/a (as seen in Flightradar 24) but with PH in their callsign. Then ELT makes a match with a A32N of AAL (airline PH). Maybe you can also exclude traffic with an unknown aircraft-type.

I'll check that. As a workaround you can set the defaul Aircraft to a glider.

Instead of "Default Aircraft": "Airbus A320 Neo",

set to "Default Aircraft": "Discus-2b",

in the modelmatching.json file.

Something to be careful of if you are into gliders is the GotFriends Discus had a name change. If anyone has the new Discus versions, change the matching to Discus-2c in the model matching json. That’s the new designation. There are some lines in the model matching json that explicitly match to the 2b and that breaks matching the Discus if you have the new versions. Or, take the Discus lines out of the model matching file and let ELT sort it out itself.

This is working great at Oshkosh! You can see the lights from the lines of approaching planes in the sky that you can see on the ADS-B sites. Never seen anything like that in a sim before. Just breathtaking with the real-world weather, too. One suggestion for those who try ELT at Oshkosh is to change the default from the A320, though. There’s lots of planes at Oshkosh that EHL doesn’t recognize so subbing A320s is kind of odd in that environment. I changed my default to the 172. There’s a good KOSH scenery here on .to too. Also, Oshkosh is very busy with real and sim traffic for the EAA Fly-In. It may impact performance. But amazing this morning! Should be a fun show to watch as well and see how ELT does.

Users may like to know that when in Safe Mode, ELT detects and even matches traffic but cannot spawn planes located in the Community Folder, like AIG.

This is genius! Very interesting concept. The planes on the ground teleporting is an immersion killer but nonetheless, great add-on and thanks for making it compatible with AIG liveries!
