Tried your hand at the Lakes tour? Or some LFA14 sorties from Lossiemouth? Maybe it's time to take a step up and introduce some transit time and some external fuel tanks to your sortie with this long one from Coningsby into Scotland. A real route flown by 41 Squadron RAF.
Upon loading up on Coningsby's North Western ramp, be sure to fit the two underwing fuel tanks and fill them up for this sortie as it's a long one. Once you depart and overfly Leeming, be ready for descent into the low level at St Abbs, using the coastal volcanic plug Largo Law as your entry point. A tight glen at Lindores Loch is your first visual reference point before following the railway to the outskirts of Perth City. Follow the outskirts of the city until you reach the A9 which will lead you through Dunkeld into the glens of the highlands. At Dalwhinnie you'll take a left into Loch Laggan to the Great Glen and over Fort William before entering the filming locations of 007 Skyfall in the gorgeous Glencoe. Back southbound now you'll take the tight turns of the glens before a straight run across Fife, back to Largo Law and climb out for St Abbs and the return journey.
If fuel is an issue in the low fly, your diversion airfield is Leuchars Diversion Airfield - failing that RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Leeming are also options.
