This folder contains a repaint for the Spitfire Mk.IX by FlyingIron, in the colors of Spitfire LF IXc OO-ARD as it looked between 1956 and 1962 when flying as a target tug with Cogea Nouvelle from Oostende-Raversijde in Belgium. Originally built in 1943 at Castle Browmwich, MH415 served with 129 and 222 squadrons, flying about 55 missions. It shot down one FW190 near Amiens, on 24 September 1943, whilst being flown by F/O Ruchwaldy. In 1946, it was sold to the Dutch Air Force, and shipped to Java. It was registered H-55 and used mainly for ground attacks. In 1950 it came back to the Netherlands, and was sold to the Belgian Air Force, who registered it SM-40 and used it until 1956. It then flew with Cogea Nouvelle as OO-ARD (this paint). It appeared in the movie 'the Longest Day" and in 1966 was bought and overhauled to play a role in the movie "Battle of Britain". It flew in both Britain and Spain for this movie. After the movie, it was aquired by Connie Edwards in lieu of payment, and it moved to Texas as N415MH, and painted as ZD-E. It was rarely flown, and in 1973 put in storarge by Edwards. In 2015, it was bought by a private buyer in Australia, disassembled and shipped to the UK for a full restoration. It took its first flight inApril 2021 and is registered G-AVDJ with Air Leasing. It is one of the most original Spitfires in existence, consisting of about 95% original parts. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.
